A MASK SAYS MORE THAN A FACE: Writing the Persona Poem
“The purpose of poetry is to remind us / how difficult it is to remain just one person, / for our house is open, there are no keys in the doors, / and invisible guests come in and out at will,” writes Czeslaw Milosz, in “Ars Poetica?” Well, let’s meet those guests by writing poems in their voices, from their points of view! The post-COVID, post-Trump world is calling us, it seems, to live as global citizens, to truly, truly empathize with those outside our communities, outside our spheres of engagement and influence. Through the reading and writing of persona poems, let’s launch a new year, 2021, by trying on the masks of those who are not us, who are not like us, to discover and express the multifaceted, multi-faced human self we, each and all, are living into.

NOTE: Each session's replay video will be emailed within 24 hours post-session, so you won’t miss anything if you can’t attend “live.”
