An Armchair Discussion with Professor Glenn Robinson
An armchair discussion with Professor Glenn E. Robinson
 Global Jihad: A Brief History
Thursday 27 January 2022 (17:00-18:00 hrs Ottawa Time)

Dear MESG members,

Happy New Year!

With deepest gratitude for your continued support of the MESG events, I am pleased to reaffirm that MESG is strongly committed to continue organizing events that meet our shared vision to shape a peaceful, democratic, just, and sustainable prosperous global future, in the year ahead and beyond.

On the eve of the unprecedented event of the 6 January 2021 in the US Capital, the MESG is preparing a fresh season with an important discussion on radical religious movements that have dramatically influenced our lives particularly in the last few decades.

While the history of religious violence dates back to pre-Islamic era (e.g., Book of Samuel), with the rise of the sudden empires of Europe and Russia, radical Islam was often used as a tool for political expediency of these newly emerging competing empires. It is well documented that Kaiser Wilhelm had called for a Holy War to destroy British Raj in the East. Subsequently, radical religious movements were revived to combat the “Godless communist”.

On Thursday 27 January 2022, I will have an armchair discussion with Professor Glenn E. Robinson, a distinguished award-winning academic and author of numerous scholarly books, journal articles, and government reports. Dr. Robinson’s recent book, Global Jihad: A Brief History, will be the focus of this armchair discussion.

For details see the attached poster.
