Speakers

Brenisen Wheeler
Education and Outreach Coordinator @Women's Advocates
Brenisen provides hundreds of presentations, trainings, and workshops in the community to address domestic violence where we live, learn, work, and gather. Since starting in this position in April 2019, she has already reached thousands of community members, professionals, and students within the state of Minnesota equipping them with the education, tools, and resources to collectively unite and break the cycle of domestic violence. Her educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota and and several years of research experience studying and presenting on identity, mental health, marginalization and trauma.
Mary Beth Becker
Crisis Resource Advocate @Women's Advocates
Mary Beth is one of Women's Advocates many Crisis and Resource Advocates who support victim-survivors in shelter, over the phone, and online on their journeys to healing from domestic violence. Mary Beth's passion for violence prevention began in college, where she helped found her university's chapter of It's On Us (a sexual violence prevention organization). Her work with victim-survivors has taught her the important role that self-determination plays in healing from trauma. Reminding survivors of their own intrinsic value and encouraging them to make their own decisions has become a cornerstone of her work with survivors in crisis. When she is not answering crisis calls or responding to the Women's Advocates Live Chat, Mary Beth can be found enjoying the great outdoors on a long hike, or enjoying the "great indoors" of a good book.
