30 Years After the ADA: An Intersectional Look at What We've Done, and Where We Still Need to Go

Moderated by Krystle Shakespeare, Founder of Black Nerd Disabled, in conversation with Vilissa Thompson, Founder of Ramp Your Voice, Keah Brown, Author of “The Pretty One: On Life, Pop Culture, Disability, and Other Reasons to Fall in Love with Me” and “Take the Mic: Fictional Stories of Everyday Resistance”, and Jaden Fields, Co-Director of Mirror Memoirs and Healthcare worker.

Krystle, Vilissa, Keah, and Jaden will be discussing the challenges, beauty, and joy of being disabled and Black, along with LGBTQ and gendered experiences, covering such topics as the history of the ADA and its real life impacts on Black people, the double bind of holding multiple intersecting underrepresented identities, and the ways in which disability is often erased or neglected in mainstream movements.
