CREATORS Program- Poetry During the Pandemic w/Josephus Thompson

Description

For two weeks (December 9th & 16th) participants will engage in a 60 min session to discuss and create a series of poems around the pandemic and how it has affected life as we know it. How have you had to adapt and grow and how that’s inspired and motivated you? At the end of the series there will be an opportunity to share your work in order to tell your story and bring the community together through the art form.

This project is being presented with financial assistance from the WV Humanities Council, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. As a host has created his own radio show called, The Poetry Café that now tours college campuses and most recently has become at TV show and now streams on Amazon Prime. With the voice of a poet and the heart and soul of a visionary he displays his works and talents in theaters, clubs, museums, galleries, universities, corporate settings and stage productions just to name a few. As a teacher and lecturer he works in both the educational and corporate setting focusing on “Education through Correlation”, using poetry as a tool to show students the importance of creative writing and literacy. Creator of The Poetry Project Institute, he’s developed a series of Professional Development workshops for teachers to provide them with resources and training on the use of spoken word in the classroom.
