The Centrality of Israel for the Jesus Movements of the First Two Centuries in "After Jesus Before Christianity"
Join Westar scholars Perry Kea and Robert Miller for this lecture based on the book, "After Jesus Before Christianity.

As the words “Christian” and “Christianity” fade in the emerging realities of this book, this lecture claims more meaning for the central role of the people of Israel in the book. It shows how the practice and meaning of the people of Israel is at the heart of what the many different Anointed groups, Wisdom circles, and Jesus movements were.

This lecture then unfolds the breadth of the people of Israel throughout the Mediterranean and the full-blooded way Jesus as an historical person and as a mythical reality for so many Jesus groups embodied the vitality of the people of Israel. In addition, this lecture shows how so many captured nations by Rome made a spiritual pilgrimage with Jesus toward who the people of Israel were.

Chapter Nine guides the lecture into this depth of the meaning of the people of Israel for all these different groups and movements; but there is hardly any chapter that does not show the people of Israel provide the major traditions and creativity for these first two hundred years.
