NCVRW: Yoga & Trauma-Informed Meditation Part 1: 3 Components of Self-Compassion
Society tends to glorify the hustle, the grind, the ability to push through the pain and keep going...However, true resilience is the ability to stay present no matter what you're facing with courage and remember that you have options. This class will cover the 3 Components of Self-Compassion that can transform moments of difficulty, stress, and pain into opportunities for empowerment and growth. Through this formal practice, we do just that—practice being present and sending ourselves compassion so that we may do so in everyday life. While exploring the themes of Resiliency and Self-Compassion, we will move together in an energizing yoga flow (suitable for beginners and seasoned yogis alike) and drift into a guided mindfulness-based meditation. No materials are needed, but a yoga mat, soft towel, pillow, and water is encouraged.

Lauren McGrath is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher, with a personal yoga practice that's 11 years strong. She completed her Yoga Teacher Training in Bali in February of 2020. Today, Lauren teaches holistic healing practices through her brand, Mija Wellness & Healing. She works privately with individual clients, teaches corporate yoga classes, and hosts open virtual yoga classes every Sunday. Lauren views yoga as an empowering and sacred path to healing the Whole Self, in line with traditional yoga philosophy, which defines yoga as freedom from suffering. Her goal is to give you the tools to explore and release tension in the body so that you may live more freely and joyfully, allowing space to take the place of tension in the body, mind, and heart. Madison Alig
Meditation and Reiki Teacher @Sweet Mysteries
Madison Alig has been practicing mindfulness-based meditation daily for the last nine years. She is currently studying Social Work at Temple University. In addition to meditation, Madison also offers Reiki and sound bath meditations. These modalities and more have helped her thrive while living with chronic pain and PTSD. Madison works with individuals, corporate clients as well as leads a weekly class on The Nalaverse. She desires to teach and empower people to be their own healers from a trauma-aware framework. She hopes that by actively healing ourselves, that we can positively impact our immediate communities and humanity as a whole. Madison's intention with each practice is to cultivate courage, attentional awareness, and presence so that we may move through life with greater compassion, resiliency, and agency.
