After a 5 year tour as a well site geological consultant, Erik spent 15 years as a research geologist with the petroleum geology branch of the Saskatchewan Geological Survey. Erik also studied many other aspects of Saskatchewan’s petroleum and natural gas resources, most notably an extensive body of work on the geology of Bakken tight oil reservoirs. Erik joined the PTRC in 2014 and is primarily responsible for the management and delivery of enhanced oil recovery research programs, including STEPS and HORNET, as well as managing the Centre’s carbon capture and storage projects (Aquistore and Weyburn-Midale). Norm is responsible for the PTRC's communications and outreach. He has two master's degrees in English (U of A) and Creative Writing (UBC). Petro Nakutnyy (Director of Operations, Mining and Energy Division @Saskatchewan Research Council) Petro Nakutnyy is Director of Operations, Mining and Energy Division, at the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC). He has worked on and led a variety of heavy and medium oil enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects, including chemical flooding, permeability modification and water shut-off, electrical heating and artificial intelligence. His main areas of interest are chemical flooding and utilizing artificial intelligence and programming for optimizing oil recovery processes. Erica Emery (Senior Research Engineer @Saskatchewan Research Council) Erica Emery is a Senior Research Engineer on the Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC) Process Development team. She has experience in process design and simulation, bench top reactor operation (batch and continuous), technology assessment and validation, experimental design, and project management. She has expertise in optimizing and testing processes and technologies in the oil and gas and environmental sectors, including biofuels.
