This webinar is organised by ISPRS WG III/9 with technical support of ISPRS Student Consortium (ISPRS SC).
The webinar will have opening remarks from Dr Laurent Polidori, President of ISPRS TC III and Dr Murali Krishna Iyyanki, Chair of the WG will be moderating it. Below are the details about the webinar and speaker.
Topic 1: Spatio-Temporal Analysis of NO2 and LST in Nairobi City.
Speaker: Dr Patricia Mwangi
Bio: Dr. Patricia Mwangi is currently serving as Faculty in the Dept of Spatial and Environmental Planning, School of Engineering and Architecture at Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya. Dr Patricia is a Geospatial Engineer with over ten years of working experience. She completed her PhD from Kenyatta University and her research focused on modelling the spatial relationship between built-up volume densities and surface urban heat islands. Her research interests are related to urbanization, land use and land cover changes and their effects on climate.
Topic 2: Urban Heat Island Mapping for Sustainable Cities
Speaker: Dr Y. Nithiyanandam
Bio: Dr. Y. Nithiyanandam is a Professor & Head of the Geospatial Research Prog, at Takshashila Institution, Bangalore, India.. He is an expert in geospatial intelligence, Remote sensing, and GIS. Dr. Nithiyanandam did his PhD in Remote Sensing and GIS, specialising in Thermal Remote Sensing, from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He Established the Takshashila Geospatial Bulletin, a leading platform providing strategic geospatial intelligence and analysis on geopolitical and environmental issues. His expertise has been instrumental in advancing urban heat island (UHI) research, focusing on quantifying anthropogenic heat emissions and developing mitigation strategies.
