Everyone agrees that Belgium must be reformed. But what should the new Belgium look like? B Plus has invited 3 keynote speakers who will each give a presentation on a specific subject:
- Tim Vandenput (member of parliament Open VLD, mayor Hoeilaart)
=> Subject: The division of powers between the State, the Communities and the
Regions must be done in the interest of the population. Redefining certain
certain powers on federal level is not a taboo.
- Vincent Laborderie (political scientist, UCL)
=> Subject: The structure of the State must be based on a long-term perspective and not
on the party political interests of the moment.
- Karl-Heinz Lambertz (President Parliament German-speaking Community - East Belgium)
=> Subject: BELGIUM, as a country uniting three language communities and different
cultures, is an asset and an opportunity at the same time. It must not fall prey to
nationalism or xenophobia.
John Vandaele (Journalist at Mo Magazine) will lead the discussion.
