Youth Media Screening: Teen Perspectives on the Pandemic
As schools closed down in 2020, youth media programs, like WHYY's Media Labs, continued to operate. Kids with cameras and home editing software are not only learning to use technology to explore their worlds and tell stories, they are providing a front-row seat to teen life during the pandemic. This screening will feature teen- and tween-produced videos that reflect the youth experience over the past year, as well as conversations with young media makers.

WHYY’s, the region’s largest public broadcaster, has been teaching teens to produce orignal video and audio pieces since 2003. To date, WHYY has partnered with more than 45 Philadelphia schools and has trained more than 20,000 kids to shoot, edit, and tell stories with video and audio. Students in youth media programs, like those run by WHYY, are learning to explore their worlds through technology and develop their voices as young media makers.
