Finance Careers: Tips and Success Stories for Reentry and Transition

Have you left the Finance field to care for family or taken an alternative path for work/life balance? With small- and mid-size business demand for finance professions outpacing supply, there are more opportunities than ever for people returning to finance and accounting career paths. Join us for an interactive event featuring professionals who have successfully returned to finance fields from a career break or pivot. Following brief introductions from panelists, audience members will have a chance to ask questions and learn how to capitalize on opportunities. This event is moderated by FlexProfessionals D.C. and Boston team members.

Panelists Include:

Lisa H - Lisa worked in corporate finance in various capacities and geographies before staying home with her three kids. She and her husband owned and operated “side gigs”…first a laundromat and currently a property management company. This is how she kept her professional skills sharp while a stay-at-home mom. She returned to the workplace in 2012 as a part-time bookkeeper, and now she’s been a contractor in her current position at a finance corporation for over six years.

Lisa P - After working for two and a half decades in accounting and finance Lisa was looking for a change. She was offered an opportunity at her employer to change roles to move into business analysis which led to work implementing accounting business systems and processes. She then took a sabbatical and decided to pivot into web design and development. Realizing how much she missed accounting, she returned to the field in 2020 on a part-time basis working for a CPA providing temporary help (mostly through tax season) and on two contract jobs through FlexProfessionals.  

Rebecca - Rebecca currently works remotely as a tax preparer and bookkeeper for a small accounting firm in Littleton, MA. She recently joined the firm after three years at H&R Block as a seasonal tax preparer. Prior to her work in the financial sphere, she worked in private ed
