BRI Monitor Regional Forum: Achieving Good Governance and Accountability in Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Investment: The Way Forward Into 2022 and Beyond

In tandem with the launch of the BRI Monitor, an online forum titled ‘Achieving Good Governance and Accountability in Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Investment: The Way Forward Into 2022 and Beyond’ is being organised to bring together partner organisations in the region alongside several external commentators to discuss the major trends and highlights gained from researching and examining BRI projects in the Asia-Pacific. Among the issues which will be debated include whether the investments have been meaningful and productive, how communities and local economies will possibly benefit from these projects, what are the strengths and weaknesses of the financial arrangements adopted by each host country, and finally what lessons were learnt. Ultimately, through an in-depth analysis of select BRI megaprojects in certain Asia-Pacific countries, we hope to understand what this says about the larger governance and institutional frameworks of the host countries.
