From El Greco’s mysterious ‘Lady in a Fur Wrap’, to Vermeer’s iconic ‘Girl with the Pearl Earring’, to Norman Rockwell’s 20th century entertaining ‘Triple Self Portrait, we will consider how artists have managed to portray the essence of an individual on canvas.
