The latest release of Essbase on the OCI Marketplace provides enhanced integration with Oracle’s flagship Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW). This new integration feature is known as Federated Partitions in Essbase. It is only available to customers on OCI.
This feature brings powerful Essbase functionality to the Autonomous Database such as the calculation engine, what-if analysis with write-backs, and an intuitive Smart View interface for data analysis.
Essbase customers benefit because the need for data load and expensive restructure operations is eliminated. Federated Partitions enable near-real-time access to data and leverage Autonomous Database capabilities such as push-down aggregation, optimized in-memory aggregations, and expressible Analytic Views that provide an in-database multidimensional model.
In this session, we will walk through the steps involved in setting up data in the Autonomous Database, building an Essbase outline, defining federated partitions and querying data in Smart View. We will also review the current limitations of the feature for this release and a brief overview of the strategy and roadmap for tighter integration of Essbase with Autonomous database.
