Associated Colleges of Illinois’ Work and Life Skills Boot Camps deliver high-quality, intensive pre-employment skills and relevant information to juniors and seniors enrolled at ACI member colleges and universities. All students are welcome to attend.

Developed with funding from a Council of Independent Colleges’ First Opportunity Grant, the boot camps advance the efforts of member institutions to prepare underserved students to obtain post-graduation employment, launch careers, and establish financial stability for themselves and their families.

Ivy Watkins
Human Resources Generalist @Citigroup
Ivy Watkins joined Citi in 2019 as a participant in the Human Resources Analyst Program. Ivy worked as an analyst on the Global Consumer Bank HR Professional Services team and the Institutional Client Group Talent & Diversity team. Ivy is passionate about her work in Human Resources, as well as her efforts to develop early career and diverse talent. Ivy has served as an Early Identification Program Mentor for two years and the Campus & Community Outreach Pillar Lead for the HR Inclusion Council. Ivy has led trainings on Workday manager capabilities, goal setting, navigating internal mobility and best practices in the virtual workplace. Ivy has experience managing early career talent programs including Service Year, CariClub, Treasury and Trade Solutions AVP Mentorship Program, and One Young World. Prior to joining Citi, Ivy gained HR Generalist experience at Ability Plus Inc. in Huntsville, AL and worked as a Brand Ambassador for the Atlanta Hawks Basketball team.
Sarah Ryan
Mind and Wellness Speaker @The Style Coach
Sarah has a passion for helping women with lots of clothes and nothing to wear to refine their style and increase their confidence. She uses a unique set of skills in styling and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to offer a range of holistic Style Coaching™ services. She also works with businesses on their image and uniform implementation and speaks at events on the subjects of wellbeing, motivation and confidence. Sarah has also had articles on sustainability in fashion published and was featured in Woman’s Way magazine in 2020 as part of their ‘Self Made’ series featuring successful entrepreneurs.
Mahdi Kafi
IT Consultant @MKAFI Technology
Mahdi is an IT Consultant working with HR departments to better understand how to make employee’s life easier using technology. He previously worked at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), DXC Technology, and recently started his own Consulting Practice MKFAI Technology.

Nancy Arnesen
Professor of English @North Park University
Nancy Arnesen (PhD, Northwestern) is a Professor of English at North Park University in Chicago, where she teaches British literature from Beowulf to Virginia Woolf, as well as a first-year seminar on identity and inequity in Chicago neighborhoods. She is currently working with North Park’s Career Development and Internship Office to promote internship opportunities for Humanities students.
Nicholas Simpson

Nicholas Simpson is a senior associate in the Chicago, Illinois office of Jackson Lewis, P.C. His practice focuses on counseling employers on labor and employment issues and defending labor and employment litigation. Nicholas also assists clients with workplace diversity and inclusion related issues, including managing internal and external communications in response to diversity and inclusion related matters. In addition to his employment law practice, Nicholas is a Corporate Board Member of Associated Colleges of Illinois and an Associate Board Member of Gilda’s Club Chicago.
