Janice Gronow
Training Coordinator @FLexercise
FLexercise is in my family. I was a junior member and loved attending classes with my mother who was a member in the 1960’s. I was encouraged to train as a FLexercise teacher in the 1980’s, which in those days was a 3 year training programme! It was a great way for me to earn an income teaching classes, as well as the luxury of being able to work around my family and help provide an income. I am proud to say I have been teaching for 35 years in my local community on the Wirral. FLexercise offers a great career pathway in which it gave me the opportunity to became a trainer, training new teachers, delivering CPD sessions, and latterly coordinating all training internally and externally for the organisation. My goal is to continue keeping my members and our FLexercise community engaged whilst enjoying the benefits of our exercise system.
Lynne Dowdican
Chair @Keep Fit Association (KFA)
I have been a KFA member since 1985 and National trainer since 2008. KFA is in my veins having loved it from an early age when I performed in my mum’s teams. The passion to dance the Laban way has never left me. I have performed in several productions over the years from National Festivals through to local events. Community is at the heart of our Association and we are fortunate to have an active network, bringing together groups to meet, socialise and indulge in the joy of dance. KFA classes take a holistic approach to fitness, seeing fitness to be life-long. This can be readily confirmed by the fact that many members have been attending classes for 40 years or more. Since October 2016, I have been National Chair and am now in my 4th year. Holding down a full-time job in the Civil Service as well as being the Keep Fit Association Chair does not leave me with much spare time, but I adore skiing, and for one precious week a year, I leave it all behind and go throw myself off mountains.
Barbara Rose
Chair @The Medau Society
I discovered Medau Movement quite by chance after the News agency I worked for closed and I was between jobs. Fast forward a few decades and I’m still here loving this amazing discipline which is characterised by its use of handheld apparatus: balls, hoops and clubs traditionally. I trained for two years and taught in Adult Education, Community halls and an independent living Sheltered housing complex. Medau has given me the opportunity to perform with the Display Team in many prestigious venues in the UK. I have also performed at international Gymnaestrada and Golden Age Festivals as part of Team GB. I was Head of UK Delegation for British Gymnastics at these events. I am in my sixth year as Chair of the Medau Society. Medau Is an extended family; teachers do really care about their participants and fellow teachers. Medau Movement is part of my very being. I would never have had the exciting life experiences I have, were it not for that fortuitous discovery years ago.
